Etymology & Historical Origin of the Baby Name Josue

Josué is the Spanish and Portuguese equivalent to the name Joshua. Joshua, in turn, comes from the Hebrew word “Yehoshu'a” which translates to “Yahweh is salvation.” Interestingly, the name also comes from a Greek translation of the Aramaic form of “Yeshu’a” which was the real name of Jesus. The name Joshua is borne in the Bible as the successor of Moses. In the Old Testament, Joshua was one of the twelve spies sent by Moses, and after Moses died Joshua succeeded him as leader of the Children of Israel – whom he led after many battles to take possession of the Promised Land. As an English name, Joshua has been in use since the Protestant Reformation. It’s not clear how long the Spanish and Portuguese version of the name, Josué, has been in use.

The number Seven personality is deeply mystical and highly in tune with their spirituality. They operate on a different wavelength than the average joe. Spending time alone comes easily to Sevens, as it gives them time to contemplate philosophical, religious and spiritual ideas in an effort to find "real truth".  Sevens are wise, but often exude mystery as if they are tapped into something the rest of us don't understand. They love the outdoors and are fed by nature. Sevens are constantly seeking to understand human nature, our place in the universe, and the mystery of life in general. This makes them quite artistic and poetic, but they are also keen observers with high intellect - so they are equally scientific-minded. Popularity

OF THE BOY NAME JOSUE

The Spanish name Josué first appeared on the U.S. popularity charts in 1972, making it one of the more recently used Spanish names in the United States compared to the age-old names like José, Juan and Miguel. However, since the 1970s, the name has been growing right along with the Latino and Hispanic populations in America. Clearly, this is what has been fueling the increased usage of Josué as the decades persist. From an English-speaking perspective, this name is hard to understand how to pronounce (HO-soo-ay or HO-sway?) and we hope we haven’t offended anyone with our ignorance. It’s just not quite a mainstream Spanish name in the United States yet.
