Aviana

Aviana is a newly coined female given name popularized by American actress Amy Adams who recently named her first child, a baby daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo in May 2010. According to Adams, she and her husband named little Aviana after Aviano, Italy – the small northeastern Italian town where Amy was born while her serviceman father had been stationed overseas. Avian means “pertaining to birds” from the Latin “avis” meaning “bird”, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Aviano, Italy took its name from the same Latin root. (Interestingly Aviano is considered the birthplace of Italian aviation and you don’t get more “birdlike” than that!). Birds are creatures that bear a lot of positive symbolism: they represent freedom and quiet gracefulness in flight; they represent intellect and imagination as the soar through the air; and they bring spiritual messages and peaceful sounds through their lovely songs. If you’re finding Ariana/Arianna a bit tiresome these days, Aviana/Avianna might be another choice to consider. It’s still very new, underused and original.
