Etymology & Historical Origin of the Baby Name Anahi

Anahi is a name primarily used in the United States, having been inspired by the Mexican singer-songwriter and actress Anahí Giovanna Puente Portilla, known simply as Anahí. It is unclear where the Mexican pop-princess got her name, but after some research it appears as if Anahi may have been derived from Anahita, a divinity of the waters in Persian mythology. In the East Iranian Avestan language, Anahita means “pure, immaculate” and this Persian deity was often associated with the Greek goddesses Artemis, Aphrodite and Athena.

All About the Baby Name – Anahi

Personality

OF THE GIRL NAME ANAHI

Romance is the hallmark of the Six personality. They exude nurturing, loving, and caring energy. Sixes are in love with the idea of love in its idealized form - and with their magnetic personalities, they easily draw people toward them. Like the number Two personality, they seek balance and harmony in their life and the world at large. They are conscientious and service-oriented, and a champion for the underdog. These personalities naturally attract money and are usually surrounded by lovely material objects - but their human relationships are always primary. They thrive in giving back to others rather than being motivated by their own desires. This is when they achieve great things. Sixes are natural teachers, ministers and counselors.

Popularity

OF THE GIRL NAME ANAHI

Anahi first appeared on the U.S. popularity charts in 1997 debuting at the respectable position of #604 right off the bat. The abrupt usage of this name had everything to do with pop-culture and the growing success of Anahí south of our borders. The name grew pretty steadily for the first ten years on the charts and reached its peak popularity in 2006 at #290 on the charts. In the past couple of years, the name has been on the decline. Anahí is a name mainly favored among Mexican-Americans and most popular in the Border States (New Mexico, Texas, Arizona and California). The name is unique and pretty (although the pronunciation is somewhat uncertain). Given its strong ties to a single celebrity, it’s hard to say if Anahi has staying power on the charts. We’ll have to wait and see.
