Etymology & Historical Origin of the Baby Name Jaydon

Jaydon is a variant of Jaden and Jayden which are both newly invented names that first appeared on the American male naming charts in 1994. Jaden and Jayden were essentially coined from the popular “-aden” suffix so popular since the 1990s in the United States (think: Aiden, Brayden, Hayden and Kaden). It is sometimes argued that Jaydon could also be a variant spelling of Jadon, a name borne by a minor character in the Old Testament appearing briefly in the Book of Nehemiah as one of the builders of the wall of Jerusalem. The Hebrew Yadon is said to mean either "thankful" or "he will judge". Although unlike Ethan, Isaiah or Gideon, it is doubtful that Jaydon is a Biblical revival name. It is much more likely a simple respelling of the ϋber-trendy Jayden. As invented names, Jaden and his/her similar sounding brothers and sisters really have no meaning. They are really just sound creations.

All About the Baby Name – Jaydon

Personality

OF THE BOY NAME JAYDON

Romance is the hallmark of the Six personality. They exude nurturing, loving, and caring energy. Sixes are in love with the idea of love in its idealized form - and with their magnetic personalities, they easily draw people toward them. Like the number Two personality, they seek balance and harmony in their life and the world at large. They are conscientious and service-oriented, and a champion for the underdog. These personalities naturally attract money and are usually surrounded by lovely material objects - but their human relationships are always primary. They thrive in giving back to others rather than being motivated by their own desires. This is when they achieve great things. Sixes are natural teachers, ministers and counselors.

Popularity

OF THE BOY NAME JAYDON

Jaydon is currently the 4th most popular spelling after Jayden, Jaden and Jaiden (at least on the boy’s side of the chart). As mentioned above, Jaden first appeared in 1994. Jaydon debuted on the charts in 1999. Aside from these four aforementioned spellings, there is also Jadon, Jaeden, Jaidyn, Jadyn, Jaydin and Jaydan currently in use for baby boys. Once a name surpasses four or five spelling variations it starts to become a caricature of itself. On the one hand, the many respellings pay homage to a name so popular; but on the other hand it starts to look cartoonish. Plus, any child named Jaden, etc. will be forced to reconfirm the spelling of his/her name in perpetuity. This is one of the most common boy’s name in use today, so if you think a changed vowel will differentiate your baby boy from the rest; think again. There is nothing unique about this name any longer. What was once cute and different is now overused and exhausting. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this seems to be the consensus out there. Just something to consider seriously before giving your baby a name that is fast becoming a cliché.
