Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Beyoncé and Jay-Z

Superstar couple announced the birth of their little Blue Ivy in January 2012 after a long anticipated pregnancy. Wait, what? Blue Ivy Carter? (Jay-Z’s real name is Shawn Carter). But why Blue Ivy? Another off-beat celebrity name. It’s almost like they’re trying to out-do each other at this point. It’s unclear why the couple chose Blue Ivy, but it’s been speculated that Blue is Jay-K’s fav color and Ivy is representative of IV (Roman numeral for the number 4). Both Beyoncé and Mr. Carter have birthdays on the fourth day of the month and their anniversary date is April 4.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum

Gorgeous Heidi Klum has four children. Helene Boshoven (whom she calls “Leni”) was born out of wedlock in 2004. Leni’s biological father seems to be out of the picture. Shortly thereafter Heidi met the British musician known simply as Seal (his last name is Samuel). Heidi and Seal went on to procreate and have three children together: Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu Samuel (b. 2005), Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel (b. 2006), and daughter Lou Sulola Samuel (b. 2009). Helene, Henry and Johan are classic names, but why Lou for a girl? We have to admit, it’s cute. Heidi says: ““I liked Ellie, but she looked more like a Lou. Lou was the winner.” Too bad mom and dad split recently, though.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has three kids, two from his marriage with Nicole Kidman and one with his third wife Katie Holmes. Cruise and Kidman adopted a baby girl in 1992 who they named Isabella Jane. Twenty years ago Isabella was not a popular name by any means, but fast-forward to today, it’s the 2nd most popular girl’s name in the country. The couple adopted Connor Antony in 1995. Back then, the name Connor was about as popular as it is today (which is respectably popular). Cruise had a third kid biologically with Katie Holmes (the couple has been called TomKat by the media given their high-profile relationship). Little Suri came into this world with no middle name in April 2006.

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes

Probably the most famous celebrity kid in Hollywood is the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Suri Cruise is famous in her own right; a little fashionista! TomKat has never gone public for the reason behind Suri’s unusual moniker, but apparently it’s a rare diminutive of Sarah (which means “princess” in Hebrew). Similar to Sadie. Yes, Suri one of those funky Hollywood celebrity names, but somehow this one works. It’s cool and fitting for the little future superstar.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey

Superstar couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed fraternal twins in April 2011. True to form for celebrities, they gave their children somewhat unusual names. Their daughter Monroe was named after Carey’s idol Marilyn Monroe and Moroccan Scott was named after the style of decor in the room where Nick proposed to Mariah. Aw, how cute. They have nicknamed the children “Roc” and “Roe” (pretty clever, huh?). Congratulations to the cute couple!

Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell has four children with her former same-sex partner Kelli Carpenter. They have three adopted children named Parker Jaren (b. 1955), Chelsea Belle (b. 1997) and Blake Christopher (b. 1999). Their fourth child was biologically birthed in 2002 by Carpenter by means of artificial insemination, a daughter named Vivienne Rose. One thing is for sure, the two women have outstanding taste in names.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears

Cute little Britney Spears who has gone and grown up before our eyes became a mother on September 14, 2005 with the birth of her first son Sean Preston Federline. Almost a year exactly to the date (b. September 12, 2006) came along Jayden James Federline. Now that’s what we might call Irish twins! Both names are cute, but Jayden is a boy’s name that’s probably getting ready to jump the shark.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale

The talented English actor has been married since 2000 to the former assistant of Winona Ryder, a former model named Sandra. The couple had a daughter in March 2005 who they named Emmeline. Pretty cute choice!

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox

Two days before her 40th birthday, Courteney Cox gave birth to her one and only child, a daughter named Coco Riley Arquette. The father is, of course, David Arquette (the couple is separated now). Coco apparently received her fashionable moniker not in homage to Coco Chanel as one might assume, but rather as an abbreviation of sorts of her mother’s name COurteney COx. Get it?
