Michal from the Bible

The Biblical woman named Michal is a Hebrew name pronounced like Michael but another variation of Michelle. She was the daughter of King Saul of Israel from the Bible (book of Samuel), who fell in love with David. When her father ordered the death of David, Michal saves his life, and is eventually returned to him as his wife. Later, King David reigns over Judah and ultimately becomes the King of Israel. The Biblical story of Michal is often referred to as “Michal and the Dancing King”. She becomes angered by the sight of her husband dancing before the Lord “with all his might” as he brought the Ark of the Covenant to the newly-captured Jerusalem in a religious procession. As punishment for her criticism, she is made barren and dies childless. It is not clear if the punishment is exacted by God or David.
